Making Scarves

I recently watched an episode of Sewing with Nancy. It inspired me. The episode was about scarves. There were some amazing scarves. The scarves only use about a half a yard of fabric! They are also super easy!

I went to JoAnn's today. To take advantage of my coupons. And the sales that they were having. I bought 4 or 5 different fabrics for these scarves. And when I got home, I got to work. I actually made 3. But 1 of them came out a bit wonky. I'm going to have to take it apart and sew it again. I realize now, it's because the fabric was cut crooked. But it's not a big deal.

I was upset though. My favorite fabric that I purchase, it had a rip in it. A pretty large one. I'm not sure what to do. Can you take it back to the fabric store? The worst is that it's in the middle of the piece, something that I couldn't hide in the scarf.

For the 3 scarves that I made, I used one technique. And I tried to do another. But I forgot part of the steps. Probably the most important step. When you turn the fabric. Does Sewing with Nancy post videos online? I found the book. And I'm thinking about buying it. It's only $15. And I'm sure there are many more projects inside.

Coca-Cola Fabric

I've been looking for some Coca-Cola fabric. For a long while. But I haven't been able to find any. I remember seeing it at JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby at one time. But now that I need it, I can't find it.

Do you know of any place I can buy some? I'm looking for about 1/4 yard. Not too much. I'm making an apron for a friend. One of those ruffled ones. I have the other fabric. But I need the Coca-Cola fabric. That's the theme of her kitchen. If you've seen it anywhere, or know where I can find it, please let me know. I would be so grateful!

Lullaby Blanket

I've been working on this baby blanket. It's one of my favorite baby blankets to crochet. I've been making it for years! In all kinds of yard. And in so many different colors! It's from Red Heart and it's a free pattern! I originally got it as a free pamphlet from Wal-Mart.

My daughter's best friend is expecting her first baby in October. And my daughter and I have been busy working on gifts. I'm in the middle of one of these blankets. They're super quick to make. 100 squares. I've finished the squares already. And now, I'm putting it together. By the way, the big skeins of Bernat baby are amazing! That's whay I've been using. I've maybe used half a skein!

I'm making it to match something else that I've made. I have never made either project in the colors that I used. And I don't know why. I'll share them later After Hills' baby shower. They're beautiful! I can't wait to finish this blanket. And I really hope that baby Charlotte will enjoy it as well.

Baby Socks

When I think about my youngest daughter and her days in school, I can't help but think about her best friend. They were inseparable. I can see this blond little girl. Who wore "Little House on the Prairie" dresses with big hair bows. Bigger than her head. More times than not, she would come over for a sleepover.

Now my daughter and her best friend are all grown up. My daughter is studying to be a doctor. Her best friend married almost a year and a half ago. Now, she's expecting her first baby. I still can't believe how these girls grew up so fast.

My daughter frequently sends me crochet patterns. I would say sometime around the holidays, my daughter sent me this pattern for these baby socks. In our family, there are always babies coming. So I set this pattern aside and knew I would come back to it.

Over Easter weekend, I began crocheting these for our now grown and expecting blond. I'm hoping to have a set in each color by October. That's when the baby is due. And since I don't have any blood related grandchildren yet, I'm taking this opportunity to spoil this baby! I'm sure I'll have a ton of other projects for the baby. But these are so fun and quick!

Cowboy "Boot"ies

A few years ago, my daughter sent me a pattern for these cute booties. I printed it. And I added it to my box of patterns. Then almost 2 years ago, I decided to start working on some projects. We were getting ready for our church's Craft Fair. I made 3 or 4 pair. They were easy and fast.

Then I forgot all about this pattern. Until last night. I don't remember how to make these. I spent almost 2 hours crocheting and taking apart these booties. I didn't get anywhere! I'm not sure why I forgot how to make them. Or what this extra flap is on the side.

Maybe there was a mistake in the pattern. But when I went to go check on the pattern, that page is no longer online. I did find this one. It looks similar. I'm going to try this pattern today. And when I talk to my daughter tonight, I'm going to ask her about this pattern. Maybe she can help me out. I want to make a few pairs of these. And not even the pair I made a while back, can help me out. I'm just hoping my daughter can.
