Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

I want to welcome everyone from Sew Mama Sew. I'm so excited that you returned to my blog. I really enjoyed the May 2010 Giveaway Day. I just knew, that I had to be a part of the the 2010 December Giveaway Day too!

I gave away a set of amigurumi animals last time. But this time around, I thought I would giveaway 3 of the silk scarves, that I recently made. They're spiral scarves. And I've also purchased a pin to go with each one.

This is an up close view of what the scarves look like. I wish I had a better camera to show you. But I really like how the scarves spiral around.

And here are the 3 scarves that I will be offering. A green and brown zebra pattern, a black and white zebra print, and a multi-toned blue scarf. Honestly, the tradition zebra print is my favorite.

Now how do you win?

1. Just leave me a message, with your favorite holiday recipe. Or a link to that recipe. I'm looking for some new dishes and desserts to add to our holiday celebration.

2. You have until December 19th at midnight. And if you follow my blog, I'll add in 5 more chances for you.

3. I will draw names. And the first person will get first pick, etc.

Good luck to everyone! Come back in January. I'm working on another amigurumi giveaway. I've got about half of the amis done. Don't forget to stop by my daughter's blog, my niece's blog, and one of my favorite little girl's blog. Good luck! And I hope to see you soon.

PS I have no clue what happened to my last 2 months worth of posts. They're showing as posted in my "Edit Posts" tab. But now that I'm checking my blog, I don't see them. I'll have to figure that out after work today.

These are delicious. We got them from a really old Betty Crocker cook book of my mother's. You can even freeze the cookies and they stay relative soft and chewy.

Haha, I'm trying to make cheesecake topped brownies.. but the easy way!

Get a dark chocolate brownie batter mix
For cheesecake topping: 1/3 cup sugar, 8 oz cream cheese and vanilla extract.
Top the brownie batter with cheesecake topping (spiral it to make it look marble-y!) and bake according to box instructions.

I bet they are nice scarfs!! My favorite candy for Christmas is English toffee (I just google a recipe...they are basically the same) and chocolate covered pretzels

My favorite holiday recipes are the simple ones. For Christmas breakfast I like to make maple and brown sugar sausage links rolled up in crescent rolls. Cook the sausage, roll up in the crescents, bake according to package instructions... easy, right? They are always a hit. Another quick recipe is some candies. I get little pretzels, put a Hershey kiss on top, bake in the oven at about 170 for about 5 min until the kiss melts down slightly... then put an m&m on top of that. I like to experiment with the different kinds of Hershey kisses they have around these days.

Thanks for the chance at the giveaway.

Homemade bread, the not-really-measuring way (how I do it):
You take a bag of bread flour and dump about a third to half of it in a big bowl. Then put in say a handful or so of sugar, a few shakes of salt, and a couple little packets of instant yeast. Mix that all together.

Next you heat up some milk and butter (organic! or locally and humanely raised) together in a pot on the stove until they are hot to the touch but not boiling. Pour some of the milk mixture into the flour/yeast/etc. mixture. Mix until you need more of the milk stuff, and keep adding milk stuff until it looks like dough. If it gets too wet, you can add flour.

Knead for 10-15 minutes. Put in an oiled bowl and cover; let rise for maybe 30 minutes. Then mush down into 2 or 3 loaf pans (oiled), cover again, let rise maybe an hour? or so until it looks risen (puffed up over the top of the loaf pans). Bake at 375 for 20-40 minutes, until the top is golden brownish.

Those scarves are beautiful. I love the multi colored blue.

I have a recipe which is always requested whenever someone tastes these. I love this recipe as it's SUPER fast and can be made last minute. I think it only takes about 10 minutes to make and these are very addicting.
Cinnamon Pecans
1/4 c evaporated milk
1 c sugar
1/4 t cinnamon
2 T water
1/4 t vanilla
3 c pecans

Combine all ingredients except pecans in a pan. Cook over medium heat till sugar is dissolved, add pecans and continue to cook stirring frequently. Cook until pecans are completely sugared with no syrup left in pan. Spread on wax paper and let cool. Break apart and enjoy.
